Cooktop failures are usually honest ones: a coil element burned through, an infinite switch that no longer regulates, a gas igniter clicking forever because its spark is weak or its burner ports are clogged, or an induction zone that errors out on a failing generator board. The good news is that most of these isolate to one burner zone, and we test zone by zone so you only pay to fix the one that failed.
Arrington kitchens cook big. Between family dinners in Pine Creek and entertaining in the open-plan kitchens of Fiddler’s Glen, cooktops here see daily multi-burner use, heavy cast iron, and canning-season marathons in late summer. That workload wears switches, sockets, and igniters faster than a light-use kitchen ever would.
Cooktop symptoms we repair:
A burner socket that sparks or shows scorch marks should stay off until it is replaced. The part is inexpensive; the risk of ignoring it is not.
Coil elements, radiant elements under glass, and gas burner assemblies replaced with correct-rated parts, then tested across their full heat range.
Infinite switches and electronic touch controls that give all-or-nothing heat get replaced so simmer means simmer again.
Igniters, spark modules, and clogged burner ports cleaned and repaired so gas burners light on the first click, every time.
Cracked glass-ceramic tops replaced with the manufacturer panel for your model, sealed and leveled so pans sit flat.
Cooktop work is usually affordable and targeted: one zone, one part. Glass tops are the exception, since the panel itself carries most of the cost. Induction board repairs sit between the two, and we test before quoting so there are no surprises.
| Repair | Typical range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Coil or radiant element | $170–$320 | Per zone, tested through full range |
| Infinite switch | $180–$330 | For all-or-nothing heat |
| Gas igniter or spark module | $180–$340 | Includes port cleaning |
| Glass top panel | $450–$800 | Panel cost drives the range |
| Induction board work | $320–$560 | Quoted after board testing |
Because cooktop repairs isolate to a zone, they are worth doing on all but the oldest units. The main exception is a cracked glass top on an aging, entry-level range, where the panel can approach the price of a new appliance. We will price both paths honestly.
Canning season is a local cooktop stress test: Arrington gardens produce, and big water-bath canners sit on back burners for hours in August and September. That sustained load finds weak switches and tired elements. We also service the wide pro-style rangetops in Kings Chapel and Hardeman Springs kitchens, including their griddles and high-output burners.

Usually a dirty or wet burner, a misaligned cap, or a weak spark igniter. If cleaning and drying the burner head does not stop it, the igniter or spark module needs replacement. Unplug the unit if clicking persists, and call us.
That is the classic signature of a failed infinite switch on electric models: the control loses its ability to cycle the element. The element itself is usually fine, and the switch is a routine replacement.
The glass panel itself must be replaced; there is no safe patch for glass-ceramic. We fit the correct panel for your model. Keep using other zones only if the crack is small and away from them, and never use the cracked zone.
Induction zones report pan-detection, overheating, and board faults as codes. Try a known induction-ready pan first. If codes persist across pans, the generator board or sensor needs diagnosis.
No. A scorched or loose coil socket can arc and damage the element or wiring. The socket is an inexpensive part; leave that zone off until it is replaced.
Yes. We service wide rangetops and pro-style burners common in Arrington estate kitchens, including griddle thermostats and high-output burner ignition. We are independent of the brands and quote all work in writing first.
